CNN reported that the United States Senate has once again rejected a bill intended to restrict Donald Trump’s war powers, marking the seventh occasion this year. This legislation would have mandated that he seek congressional approval for any future military operations in Iran.
The bill did not pass, with a vote tally of 50 to 49. As per the report, Democratic Senator John Fetterman opposed the bill, joining Republicans in their dissent, while Republican Senators Rand Paul, Susan Collins, and Lisa Murkowski voted in favor, aligning with the Democrats.
CNN noted that certain Republicans, including Murkowski, who for the first time today supported the initiative to limit war powers, along with Tom Tillis, have contended that Congress ought to play a role in authorizing military action or, at the very least, exercise greater oversight as the conflict extends beyond 60 days.
