Russia Attacks Ukraine’s Energy Infrastructure, Resulting in 5 Fatalities

Date:

On the evening of May 5, Russia executed missile and drone assaults on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure across the regions of Poltava, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, and Kyiv, resulting in the deaths of five civilians and injuries to numerous others.

In the Poltava region, Russia targeted an energy facility and subsequently launched a” second missile strike while crews” from the State Emergency Service were already engaged in extinguishing the fire. Many individuals sustained injuries, and four lost their lives, including two first responders – Hero of Ukraine Viktor Kuzmenko and rescuer Dmytro Skryl.

Additionally, Russia struck the Kharkiv region, leading to one fatality and four injuries. In the Dnipro region, Russian attacks caused damage to critical infrastructure and resulted in three injuries. In Pavlohrad, damaged power lines left thousands of families without electricity. Furthermore, Russia targeted Zaporizhzhia and the Kyiv region, causing three additional injuries.

“Russia is requesting a ceasefire to facilitate its propaganda celebrations”, yet it continues to carry out daily strikes against Ukrainian civilians. This is blatant hypocrisy. Russia has the capability to halt its attacks at any time. Ukraine will respond appropriately.
