Qatar LNG Tanker Passes Hormuz After Iran Approval

Date:

A Qatari tanker carrying liquefied natural gas passed through the Strait of Hormuz yesterday.

According to shipping information in the Persian Gulf reported by Reuters on Saturday night, the tanker carrying liquefied natural gas was passing through the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday, bound for Pakistan.

The news agency cited sources as saying that the passage of the tanker was being carried out “with the approval” of the Islamic Republic, a confidence-building measure with Qatar and Pakistan, both of which have played a role in the US-Israeli war with Iran.

This would be the first time since the war that a Qatari tanker has been allowed to pass through the Strait of Hormuz to transport fuel.

“At the same time, the British Maritime Operations Authority said it had received a report of an incident 43 kilometers northeast of Doha, the capital of Qatar.”

The agency announced that a bulk carrier reported being hit by an “unknown projectile” and a small fire had broken out on the ship.

The ship said its crew managed to extinguish the fire.

There were no reported casualties in the incident, according to the report.

The UK’s Merchant Marine Operations Authority said there were no reported environmental impacts following the incident.
