Israel has faced criticism for being labeled as not a ‘normal country’ due to its importation of wheat that has been stolen from Ukrainian territory occupied by Russia, leading the European Union to contemplate sanctions against Israeli individuals and entities involved in this trade.
The remarks were made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who stated: ‘In any normal country, the act of purchasing stolen goods carries legal consequences.’ He further noted that a ship laden with looted grain had reached Israel and was set to unload, emphasizing that such actions cannot be considered legitimate business and cautioning that Israeli authorities could not realistically claim ignorance regarding the cargo arriving at their ports.
