JD Vance in Islamabad for Historic US-Iran Peace Talks

Date:

Vice President JD Vance arrived in Islamabad, Pakistan’s capital, on Saturday, for high-level peace talks between U.S. and Iranian officials after more than a month of war since the U.S. and Israel attacked Iran.

Vance is leading the U.S. delegation, which also includes Steve Witkoff, President Trump’s special envoy, and Jared Kushner, his son-in-law.

The negotiating session on Saturday, mediated by Pakistan, was the highest-level face-to-face meeting between U.S. and Iranian officials since Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution. The talks come after the U.S. and Iran agreed to a provisional cease-fire last Tuesday that suspended the fighting for at least two weeks, though the truce remains extremely fragile.
