The US military has released an extensive list of goods it considers contraband, saying it will seize them from any commercial vessel “regardless of geographical location” during a blockade of southern Iranian ports.
The list includes weapons, ammunition and military equipment, which are considered “absolute contraband.”
Also listed are goods such as oil, iron, steel and aluminum, and some civilian items, which are considered “conditional contraband” because they may be used for military purposes.
The announcement adds that even ordinary items such as electronic equipment or heavy machinery can be seized if there is evidence of military use.
