White House spokeswoman Carolyn Leavitt told Fox News that the Islamic Republic had requested a face-to-face meeting with U.S. officials in Islamabad. “The Iranians have called, as the president has asked them to, and they have requested this face-to-face meeting,” Leavitt said.
“So the president is sending Whitaker and Kushner to hear their views. We hope that this conversation will be constructive and help move the process forward to reach an agreement.”
“Donald Trump has made his red lines very clear throughout this process. He has shown flexibility in extending the ceasefire. So Steven and Jared are going to go see what the Iranian side has to say,” Leavitt said.
